Although I have been involved in all aspects of software development, with verifiable experience, I felt that formalising my skills, with credentials relevant to my industry, offers further reassurance that I am a qualified practitioner of the technologies that I work with.

From the perspective of companies that commission Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs), the advantages are well documented (further reading) and prove that technically proficient team members, with in-depth knowledge, can save development time, whilst ensuring that best practices are followed.

From my own personal point of view, Microsoft Certification is just another way in which I convey to my clients that I am proficient in my field. Not only do I have the experienced, but I am also qualified to work to the high standards set by todays' enterprise level development projects.
